Job summary

We are a large well-established practice based in Leeds City Centre who is looking to extend the salaried GP team.

We are flexible with the number of sessions and would be open to both full time and part time applicants.

Key practice points include:

40,000 patients including students and their dependents

  • Extensive training involvement including the DFSRH, GP registrars and Student nurses
  • Leaders in Student Health, with an emphasis on mental health, sexual and reproductive health and musculoskeletal medicine
  • Gold pride in practice accreditation two years running from the LGBT foundation
  • Largest of a two practice PCN who fully embrace an MDT approach.
  • Terms and conditions including pro-rata CPD and protected weekly.
  • Paperwork light practice.

Main duties of the job

Candidates should be motivated and able to show compassion and empathy towards our specific patient group.

They will need to show excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and show the ability to work both individually and as part of a large team.

They will need to embrace the evolving MDT approach and be able to work effective with an array of different health care professionals.

IT literacy is important as is a willingness to get involved in audit and quality improvement work.

Candidates will be responsible for providing a high level of medical care to the practice population. Typical roles include but are not limited to:

  • A mix of remote, e-Consults and face-face appointments as required.
  • Pro rata on-call duties
  • Very infrequent home visits as part of the on-call team
  • Standard GP admin, including contributions to QOF.
  • Pro rata medicals
  • Occasional key holder duties

About us

A large practice who work in collaboration out of a modern premise to provide excellence in patient care.

In addition to a large GP, nursing, reception, secretarial and workflow team, we also have multiple sessions per week with physiotherapists, pharmacists and mental health advisors. Additionally we have access to fortnightly psychiatrist appointments allowing GPs to book in to discuss difficult cases.

Job description

Job responsibilities

An exciting opportunity has arisen to become part of our forward thinking team as a Salaried GP.

We are a large, evolving practice with a unique student demographic. We have a list size of over 40,000 and are based in Leeds city center in close proximity to the universities. We are a single site practice, which has recently undergone a large extension to increase capacity. Parking is available on site.

We strive for excellence in patient care, whilst ensuring staff well-being is paramount, which is mirrored in our retention rates.

As the largest practice in our dual PCN we are fully embracing the MDT approach and welcome the opportunity to tailor the future of general practice.

We would expect any new staff member to integrate and work well with our allied health professionals, therefore providing optimal patient care.

Duties and responsibilities include all those typically associated with a GP working in primary care, including but not limited to:

  • Providing a high standard of care to patients, whilst integrating well into our large multidisciplinary team
  • An ability to provide a mix of telephone, video, eConsults and face-face appointments, dealing with both acute and chronic presentations professionally and autonomously. Whilst also having an awareness of limitations and recognizing when to seek additional support.
  • To follow national, local and practice guidance when present for investigations, diagnosis and prescribing.
  • A mix of standard day and on-call work, with occasional home visits as needed.
  • An ability to deal with associated administrative work and correspondence in a timely fashion
  • Maintain accurate contemporaneous medical records
  • Have a good awareness for health promotion and prevention and a focus on QOF.
  • To embrace new IT and consultation methods, including eConsults, accuRx and EPS.
  • Engage in audit and quality improvement work
  • Good problem solving and communication skills
  • The ability to adjust and manage the rapidly changing face of primary care

Necessary requirements include:

  • Full GP qualification
  • GMC registered with a license to practice
