Last week, clinical, managerial and administrative representatives from Leeds Student Medical Practice (LSMP) met with Student Representatives from the University of Leeds and Leeds University Union as part of our ongoing Patient Participation Group (PPG) efforts. The meeting was an invaluable opportunity to share ideas and gather feedback, with a view to tailoring LSMP’s services to better meet the needs of our unique student population and improve the overall patient experience.

Key areas covered included:

  • Patient Registration Process: Exploring ways to simplify and streamline registration for new students to improve ease of access.
  • Tackling inequalities to improve access to services: Identifying barriers students face when accessing healthcare and discussing strategies to promote equality and inclusivity.
  • Navigating the NHS: Supporting students to better understand and navigate NHS services effectively.
  • Strengthening communication and relationships: Building stronger channels for communication and collaboration between LSMP, the student community and the University.

Overall, the meeting was beneficial in furthering our understanding of the unique challenges faced by our patients and generating actionable ideas to enhance service delivery, improve access, and foster stronger partnerships.”
